Ely Area Capacity Enhancement – Now Closed
The Ely area capacity enhancement (EACE) programme is a proposal to upgrade the railway to allow more trains to run through Ely. The aim is to improve connectivity and reliability for passenger services and meet the demand for more rail freight between the Port of Felixstowe, the West Midlands and the North to support sustainable, long-term economic growth.
Why is Network Rail consulting?
Network Rail held a public consultation on the Scheme which ran from 21 September to 1 November 2020 to raise awareness of the work we are doing and to open a dialogue with a wide range of audiences about:
• potential benefits of the scheme
• the challenges we have to address
• how we will consult the public
• current funding position.
Thank you to those who took the opportunity to find out more about our proposals and provide feedback via our chat facility, consultation hotline and via email.
In the coming weeks we will share a summary of the feedback received and how the feedback will shape the proposals.
